La Piaggia

1000 South Pointe Drive
Miami Beach, FL 33139
305.674.0647

A beach club in the Saint Tropez vein, La Piaggia is a stunning place to sit back and catch a glimpse of beautifully tanned bodies parading in the sun. Located across from Murano Condominiums and attracting Miami Beach's jet set crowd, this beach haven has quickly become a most sought-after destination to enjoy an afternoon bite of French-Italian cuisine or a weekend of unwinding with a tropical drink in hand. Relax near the water's edge as you take in the bold colors and saltwater swimming pool. And with a moniker like "the South of France at South of Fifth," this high-end venue is the perfect place to kick your evening off with a touch of class.

Review:  May 18.08 I decided to give this place a try, after hearing that it was a nice place to spend the afternoon and have some decent French fare. Instead, my party of four guest and my daughter were seated next to a very loud speaker blaring 80's music and the owner and manager who are clearly stuck in a time warp, ignoring the patrons... Our waitress, distressed that our party wanted to drink, and and not order a $1,000 food bill complained to the manager that we had not ordered enough food. In order to not cause a scene, we gave in to our waitress' whim and ordered enough.

After waiting an extra half hour, our $17.00 chuck beef burger was nothing to write home ABOUT nor were the crab cakes...

To make matters worse, the table we were sitting at broke. My guest was able to savage his French onion soup only to have the manager and owner giggle that the night before another table broke and everyone was laughing. We hardly saw the gist in his humor. Not even an apology from the owner... I have never been to a place where the owner thinks his patrons should be privileged to be in his presence.  Given the current economic condition in South Florida, I think the owner should reevaluate how he treats his paying customers. This is one that vows NEVER TO RETURN.
