Shine Opens at
the Shelborne
Jonathan Cowan and
Gerry Kelly opened their new club
Shine this weekend, first with a VIP/press showing on
Friday night, then a grand opening to the public on
Saturday.
What's most striking about the new club
is its size, as it encompasses virtually the entire first
floor of the Shelborne from the hotel's lobby to an outdoor
area between the hotel and the ocean.
The pool-side space has a dedicated bar
and dining area which serves Tapas until midnight, and the
pool itself is lined with cabanas which have personalized
sound systems and offer great views of the sexy open-air
scene.
Resident DJ’s Kelvin Andrews (Soul
Mekanik) and Chris Bourne (Tarrentella) spun through the
club's Steve Dash-designed sound system, the components of
which are a closely guarded secret and reside in unmarked
black boxes stored in a secure location.
