The 4th of July in Miami & Miami Beach is celebrated,
among other locations, at 10th Street Beach
where the city hosts an evening of music followed by a dazzling
fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean. Traffic along the busy
Ocean
Drive strip from 5-15th Street is diverted for the holiday to create a
safer street party atmosphere and travelers and locals gather on the
shore and at sidewalk cafes near 10th Street to get a front row seat to
all of the action. A second fireworks display and pops concert on North
Beach takes place at 73 Street Beach on Collins Avenue.
Meanwhile, in Downtown Miami, the City Fathers host an evening of music
and fireworks just south of Bayside Marketplace (301 N. Biscayne
Boulevard) in Downtown Miami at Bayfront Park where crowds bring
blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a picnic under the stars and fireworks
at 9pm over Biscayne Bay. Coconut Grove celebrates in Peacock Park and
Key Biscayne residents party on the Village Green.
If you want to attend one of the city fireworks festivals, be certain to
arrive early as parking is often at a premium and traffic and crowds
fill the streets making it unusually difficult to get where you want to
go. Beach goers should refrain - as always - from bringing glass
containers onto the sand but picnics, beach chairs and towels are
essential. All activities are FREE and open to the public. Start times
for musical performances vary, but most fireworks start sizzling at 9pm.
