One of the most anticipated summer events on the foodie calendar,
MIAMI
SPICE RESTAURANT MONTH is actually a two month series of discount dining
opportunities throughout South Florida featuring set 3-course menus for
lunch and dinner at the city's leading dining destinations. While the
summer heat often drives locals indoors in search of shade and air
conditioning, intrepid diners venture out more frequently in August and
September discovering new restaurants (and re-visiting their favorite
haunts), hoping to take advantage of taste tempting appetizers,
well-crafted entrees and decadent desserts.
Sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Miami
Spice was originally designed to boost sluggish food sales during the
hot and humid "Summertime Blues" season. Luckily, the promotion proved
to be such a success that even the most popular restaurants like
Michael's Genuine Food and Drink opted to participate last year. Simply
put, some of our most prestigious chefs at locations like the
Fontainebleau Resort open their 5 star restaurants to new business by
crafting prix-fixe Miami Spice Menus that would cost 20-30% more if
ordered from the regular menu. Many top spots offer wine pairings or add
premium items like lobster or caviar for a modest surcharge.
Participating restaurants are listed on the official website and in the
weeks leading up to the August launch, set menus for lunch ($22) and
dinner ($35) are posted online so locals and clever visitors can plan
their daily meals and make reservations somewhere new nearly every night
of the week! Note that some locations only offer the menus on weekdays
or restrict participation to lunch or dinner so it is best to contact
the restaurant directly to make sure the offer is available when you
plan to visit.
