Miami Swim Week - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off in
Miami Beach in mid-July with hundreds of taut,
toned and tanned bathing beauties stalking the catwalks, filling the
nightclubs and generally dazzling onlookers who gather to witness the
latest trends in swimwear for the season. As summer heats up, the city
fills with an international cadre of eager fashionistas determined to
get the word out about the hottest designs.
The
Raleigh Hotel hosts a number of important collections during Swim
Week which has expanded to include resort-ready accessories like bags,
sexy sandals, hats, and jewelry worn by the models as they strut their
stuff on the poolside runway. Major hair and make-up companies also
sponsor these shows to help promote their latest products and showcase
new looks that work perfectly with a string bikini or a dramatic couture
gown. While Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York garners international
attention at Lincoln Center, the summer heat of Miami still captivates
the world press and paparazzi who fill the streets hoping to capture
celebrity guests, fashion designers and models at play.
While access to many of the runway presentations is restricted to media
and registered fashion buyers, visitors to South Beach who are eager to
be a part of the scene can attend fabulous after parties at all the
major nightclubs or simply dress up to blend in with the great-looking
