What was once one among many of the aging Art Deco hotels in South Beach is now a tranquil retreat that includes a modish lobby bar, the pricey designer boutique Ona Saez, a rooftop spa and the mouth-watering Mediterranean restaurant, Aïgo.

The New Clinton Hotel was reopened in 2004 after a $12 million renovation. Parisians Eric and Nadine Raffy transformed the lobby into whimsical white milieu. The ceiling is constantly altered with color projections and rich lavender loveseats on wheels are deliberately placed about the room. The carpet is designed to resemble the movement of the ocean.

The hotel is overseen by a former manager of The Waldorf-Astoria, so you know the quality of service and housekeeping is spectacular. Virtually no two guest rooms at the Clinton are the same, but each exudes coziness and its own unique flair. The designers describe the guest rooms as "little houses" because of all the amenities, among them glass-enclosed showers, platform beds, down comforters, 300-count linens, mood lighting, flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet access and luxe spa toiletries. If you are up for a real treat reserve a loft balcony suite, which have private Jacuzzis.

A butler will prepare the Jacuzzi nightly with the bed turndown service. Located on the Clinton's fourth floor sundeck, Panico Salon & Spa offers a full menu of spa services including body care, facials and massages. Guests can also have massages and treatments in the comfort of their own room.

The hotel's sleek restaurant is named Aïgo, (the word for "garlic" in the south of France) and features food from Southern Europe and North Africa as well as Latin America. Be sure and stop by the martini bar, which offers champagnes and wines by the glass, a variety of martinis and an eclectic tapas menu. The New Clinton Hotel is sure to become an old favorite in no time.
