This Penguin Hotel is the perfect choice for those travelers who
aren't high maintenance and don't expect many amenities - you know,
those of us who prefer to spend our hard-earned vacation money on
shopping, dining at the best restaurants in South Florida and of
course, South Beach's fantastic nightlife. And as an added bonus,
this is the best location on the strip!
The Penguin Hotel is located across from the
beach and approximately eight miles from Miami International
Airport. Local attractions include downtown Miami, Bayside Mall,
Miami Beach Convention Center and the Cruise Ship Port of Miami.
Designed by legendary architect Henry Hohauser in 1948, this
three-story boutique hotel, originally named the Golden Dawn, offers
44 renovated (albeit still on the small side) guest rooms in
addition to the penthouse suite, which features a rooftop solarium.
Modern guest room amenities include Satellite
TV, voice mail, data ports, mini refrigerators, in-room safes,
laundry/valet service, multilingual staff, wake-up calls, concierge,
limited room service, translation services, car rentals, gift shop
and hair salon. And as a quaint reminder that this is a historic
landmark you can expect wall air-conditioning systems (a bit noisy,
but they do the job!).
In addition, deluxe guest rooms feature tile
floors, 30" flat screen LCD TVs, hair dryers and irons with ironing
boards. Bathrooms include Italian marble counter top, deep soak
jet-tub, glass doors and rain showers. All rooms have electronic
door locks, smoke detectors and sprinkler systems. Guests will enjoy
access to a private, secluded garden and wading pool at the
President Hotel, which is adjacent to the Penguin Hotel. Onsite
dining is available at the Front Porch Café & Restaurant, which is
said to have the best breakfast in South Beach. |
