Art Basel Miami Beach Announces More Events - Update 2

707007.jpgArt Basel Miami Beach comes to town from Thursday, December 6th thru Sunday, December 9th, and has released more details of its schedule of events.

Galerie Bertin-Toublanc
Already a huge force in Europe, Paris’ renown Galerie Bertin-Toublanc will open its first U.S. location in Miami’s Wynwood Design District at the end of November, just in time for this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach, the most important art show in the Nation. They will celebrate the launch of Galerie Bertin-Toublanc at the top of the year’s Art Basel Miami Beach, on the evening of Tuesday, December 4th. Cutting-edge, contemporary artists from around the world slated to show their works upon the gallery’s launch include: India’s Baba Anand; England’s Mauro Perucchetti; France’s Supakitch, and Philippe Chevallier; and China’s Liu Bolin.

F.A.M.E. (Fashion Art Music Entertainment) Collective
The downtown art world meets the uptown fine art world in a cultural crash collision course when Maximum Impact Associates presents F.A.M.E. Collective (Fashion Art Music Entertainment), an exclusive, four-story exhibition devoted to works by more than 25 contemporary, pop and graffiti artists. Heralding the street world’s most prolific artists renown for elevating the mediums of graffiti, pop and contemporary art techniques to a fine art form, F.A.M.E Collective celebrates artists like Futura 2000, Stash, Dave White and Ron English who are finally enjoying long-deserved recognition for their art’s cultural significance. Only recently is this medium being recognized by collaborations with Fortune 500 brands like Nike, NorthFace, Coca Cola, and Apple and recent museum exhibits across the world. For the first time, their work is being featured under one roof during the art world’s most esteemed festival when F.A.M.E. Collective opens its doors during Art Basel Miami Beach on Tuesday, December 4 through Friday, December 14th. Access to F.A.M.E. Collective is by appointment or invitation only.

The Sagamore Hotel
The Sagamore Hotel has been coined “The Art Hotel” by the travel industry and art community. In recognition of this honor, they have officially added this moniker to their name: Sagamore – The Art Hotel. The Sagamore Collection, on permanent display throughout the hotel, is continually rotated and features works of contemporary art, including painting, works on paper, photography, mixed media, sculpture and video art by recognized, emerging and world-renowned artists. This year, the Sagamore is proud to host the following Art Basel Miami Beach slate of events:

Art Galleries – daily viewings of the Sagamore Art Collection

Art Videos - The Sagamore’s Art Basel Screening Series (Saturday, December 1st – Sunday, December 9th) –this eclectic series of films directed by artists will be screened during Art Basel in the Social Miami art video lounge and screening room at the Sagamore.

ROBERT CHAMBERS’ ROTORELIEF - Rotorelief, the iconic sculpture by Robert Chambers, combines a functioning helicopter with hypnotic discs in the place of propeller blades. It will be installed permanently in The Sagamore Collection, in the garden and veranda area of the hotel, on Monday, October 29th, in time for upcoming Art Basel.

SPENCER TUNICK – Spencer Tunick is recognized around the globe for his elaborate still and video images, which combine sculpture, performance and land art with skillfully posed, multiple nude figures, contrasted by urban, natural and public backdrops. Created on Monday, October 8th, Tunick selected the Sagamore’s exquisite architecture and pool as the setting for his newest work. The artist’s documentation of this live installation comprises six photographs and video documentary, and will be presented for the first time during Art Basel commencing Saturday, December 1st in the Sagamore gallery and other public spaces.

ART BASEL BRUNCH – Saturday, December 8th - The Sagamore’s annual Art Basel Brunch has become one of the most sought-after invitations of Art Basel Miami Beach. Hosted by hotel owners Martin and Cricket Taplin (Cricket curates The Sagamore Collection), Miami real estate mogul and art collector Marty Margulies and life partner Constance Collins, along with the six Miami-area art museums (The Bass Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lowe Art Museum, the Frost and Wolfsonian Museums at FIU, Wolfsonian at FIU and Miami Art Museum), the annual Art Basel Brunch brings together artists, gallery owners, museums, collectors and other luminaries in town for Basel weekend.

OTHER SAGAMORE HOSTED ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH EVENTS INCLUDE:
Tuesday, December 4th, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM – Paul Clemence and Julie Davidow’s Miami Contemporary Artists book signing (with a forward by Elisa Turner). Over 100 artists are featured in the book including Hernan Bas, Jose Bedia, Teresita Fernandez, Naomi Fisher, Luis Gispert, Daniel Arsham, Susan Lee Chun, Cristina Lei Rodriguez, and TM Sisters, many whom are featured in The Sagamore Collection.

Saturday, December 8th, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM - Tracey Moffatt book signing of The Moving Images of Tracey Moffatt.
