CHANEL Cruise Collection Rallys at the Raleigh
“The concept of the Cruise Collection is based on traveling, and Miami is the ideal destination: A city that moves and has energy, with its small districts and its animated streets.” ~ Karl Lagerfeld…
There is an official state of LOCKDOWN at the Raleigh Hotel right now as the Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld is staging his legendary CHANEL Cruise Collection Thursday, May 15th at the hotel’s breathtaking pool. If the rest of the planet seems a bit less “Super,” know that the top supermodels and fashion editors are making
Photographing South Beach Girls
Scott over at ipanemic.com takes us on an adventure as he transitions from street photography to photographing models in South Beach. Some guys have all the luck…
Mother’s Day in South Beach
We’d like to help you plan a perfect Mother’s Day on South Beach, so here is our 2008 Brunch and Pampering Guide. To be certain your Mom is not left standing on some sunny sidewalk, make a reservation NOW!
Joley Restaurant and Lounge at the Hotel Astor (956 Washington Avenue) relaunched the popular Gospel Brunch recently and we have picked this as our Mother’s Day Inspirational Idea. Food, a pleasant atmosphere and someone with a real gusto for singing keeps the mood light and the spirit soaring. Acclaimed singer, songwriter and actress Maryel Epps has toured the world spreading the gospel and returns to town for a limited engagement at Joley.
Name that Area! Another Creative Challenge…
As South Beach becomes a more popular destination, developers are renovating the properties just north of the 21st Street boundary commonly considered the edge of town. We’ve barely grown comfortable with the moniker “SoFi” for the area South of Fifth street, and now there’s got to be a universally approved nickname for the (former) dead zone north of 21st Street.
As always, we welcome your suggestions. TXTRs unite! We drank some wine (for inspiration) and jotted down a few ideas on a bar napkin to get you started…

It’s the first ever South Beach Muxtape Challenge!
POP QUIZ!
Did you ever record a mixtape of songs to impress your friends or provide an audio backdrop for the perfect road trip?
Do you load your iPod with songs for the gym or the beach or for those quiet moments with the one you love?
Do you think you might make an excellent DJ?
Downtown Miami: like.no.other
Cruise passengers often complain about the dearth of street life in Downtown Miami after business hours. Unlike most cities, Miami tends to pull it’s shutters and return to the ‘burbs after the old 9 to 5 is through. Recent developments in our on-again-off-again building boom might remedy that situation when the excess condos convert to rentals to keep speculative developers out of bankruptcy. If they can’t sell the thousands of units they’ve built, there are plenty of people around who can probably still afford to rent them.
When You Care Enough to Send the Very Breast!
Today is Saint Patrick’s Day and we were touched to see dozens and dozens of greeting cards on sale just perfect for wishing your friends and family the Top o’ the Morning! While we can think of no better reason to start our day with lurid green cupcakes and drown our after work aggressions in too much green beer, St. Patty’s seems a weird reason to send someone a Hallmark Card.
Miami Herald Parent Company Takes a Hit

The South Florida Business Journal is reporting that the Miami Herald’s parent company, McClatchy, had a serious drop in January revenue compared to 2007…
The majority of the decline continues to come from newspapers in California and Florida, two states hit hard by the residential real estate downturn. Ad revenue dropped about 23 percent in the California market, to $26 million from $34 million in January 2007. Ad revenue in Florida fell 29 percent, to $22 million from $31 million in January 2007.
The Biscayne Bomber Strikes Again

Here’s a shot I took this morning while having breakfast out on my balcony. I refer to this guy as “the Biscayne Bomber” because every week or so he flies down the Bay and waves at the chicks at the pool, then heads back up north to parts unknown.
One time I threw a bagel at him. Missed.
No Comparison to Marilyn
Lindsay Lohan
Anyone who doubts Marilyn Monroe’s natural beauty should have a look at this photo shoot where photographer Bert Stern re-creates his 1962 “The Last Sitting” series with Lindsay Lohan standing in for Monroe. The photographs confirm beyond the shadow of a doubt that Marilyn Monroe is a hard act to follow.
Taken during several boozy sessions at the Hotel Bel-Air, the photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America’s most famous actress: Monroe, sleepy-eyed and naked, sips from a Champagne glass, enacts a fan dance of sorts with various diaphanous scarves, romps with erotic playfulness on a bed of white linens. Six weeks after she had posed, Monroe was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.
