[...] South Beach USA reports: There is an official state of LOCKDOWN at the Raleigh Hotel right now as the Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld is staging his legendary CHANEL Cruise Collection Thursday, May 15th at the hotel’s breathtaking pool. If the rest of the planet seems a bit less “Super,” know that the top supermodels and fashion editors are making their way through customs at Miami International Airport just now to take their place at another history-making CHANEL event.
Politicians only think of themselves and their own futures in this part of the world. The fix is much less popular and most would consider immorale. However there is always the choice of citizens to unite, cooperate with each other and then force their public servants to comply with their wishes. At the very least it would scare the public servants to their soft money.

Yes, I've heard that sentiment expressed several times.

The Fontainebleau has been such a high profile part of Miami Beach for the last 54 years that many people have had strong opinions on the many changes that have occurred over the years. The City's Design Review Board really scrutinized the current changes in progress heavily.

Ah-ha-ha...Gus made a funny...

Nope, not a press release post. And it turns out that not everyone is clear on the concept behind a "fact sheet" either. (G)

Thanks for the Marlin info. I saw that place once around 1986 before it went through its first renovation and you wouldn't believe what a disaster it was. After that it got a very minor make-over (I think they just painted it) and it sat for a long time before Chris B. bought it.

I think it's one of most photogenic hotels in South Beach.

Hi, Joseph, is this one of those press release posts I've heard about? Just kidding.

In addition to the bands you mentioned, Beyoncé, Avril Lavigne, No Doubt, Grace Jones and Robert Palmer have also recorded at the Marlin's VIP recording studio.

Last I heard, Elite Modeling Agency is also located at the hotel.

It's not the hotels that are objecting, it's the racial bias of the ruling class on the beach that wants to keep the "riff raff" away.

They have been doing everything in their power for years to keep any sort of real mass transit system from making its way onto the islands. Looks like this is the latest episode of elitist gestures on their part.

Shame on them.

Of course this project must move foward now, stop letting the hotels rule policy on the BEACH..........The greater benefit of all Miami Beach residents is the point, our polution level is low (air) lets keep it that way, no more car congestion, move Baylink closer to reality.

The Alliance for Reliable Transportation (A.R.T.) appears to be the best organized effort with regard to transit issues...

And to keep abreast of transit issues in general, Gabriel's site at http://www.transitmiami.com/ provides excellent on-going coverage.
