Dog Days of August in Miami Beach
Locals just love August. The weather is hot, the mosquitoes are fierce and all that rain shrinks the water bill so we can finally afford 24 hour air conditioning… no wonder we’re Dog Tired! But seriously folks, welcome to the Dog Days of August.
Before you decide to flea (…ug…), remember that it’s Miami Spice Month in the Magic City which means a Litter of Discounts at some of the top tables in town. Just thinking about all those nights away from a hot stove already has us drooling.
We’re Pounding the pavement and sniffing out some of the best ways to stay cool this summer. For those of you who wiggle when you get your belly scratched, we’re digging up some of the best new spas and fetching some great new grooming ideas just for you pampered pups.
Let’s get the ball rolling with a quick peek at a Sunday Brunch with one simple rule - you must love dogs!
Dining Doggy Style
The Catalina Hotel and Beach Club continues their promotional bonanza with a weekly invitation to dine with the dogs. Whether you’re traveling with Fido or just a wee bit homesick for the pup you’ve left behind, join well-groomed locals and the hounds who love them at the “Must Love Dogs” weekly brunch at Maxine’s Restaurant at the Catalina Hotel.
From 10:30am to 2:30pm, guests are welcome to sip Mimosas, Bellinis or spicy Bloody Marys and sample omelet’s, pancakes or lox and bagels with fellow canine enthusiasts. Pooches are treated to doggie treats and individual bowls of water to keep them cool while Leash Mates mix, munch and mingle.
While there is no guarantee you’ll make a love connection, a $20 brunch including cocktails, fresh fruit, home fries, juice and coffee definitely gets our tails wagging!
