Stephen Starr’s Buddakan Coming to South Beach?

buddakan.jpgRumor has it that Stephen Starr, the Philadelphia restaurateur who hit New York in a big way a few years ago by shelling out $26 million to produce his two flagship restaurants, Morimoto and Buddakan, will soon be coming to South Beach. No one seems to know–at least no one who’s willing to talk–about where Starr might put his new South Beach Buddakan, but we’re guessing it’s going to be somewhere around the burgeoning 23rd Street glamour warp where the Gansevoort South and W South Beach hotels are located.

Starr is Zagat’s former Restaurateur of the Year and is known for his big, theatrical restaurants which are themed in a wide range of cuisines including Asia, Cuban, Mexican, Japanese and Mediterranean.
