La Côte – Fontainebleau’s Beach Club & Restaurant

La Côte - Fontainebleau's Beach Club & Restaurant

La Côte, Fontainebleau's Beach Club & Restaurant

Nestled between the Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s iconic pool and gorgeous panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, La Côte, which evokes the glamorous feel of the French Riviera, has been a go-to spot for locals and hotel guests looking to enjoy an al fresco lunch, delectable drinks or an early sunset supper. Now, patrons who wish to linger longer can enjoy La Côte until 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.

Unlike many of Miami Beach’s trendy, oceanfront hotel restaurants, La Côte is one of Miami Beach’s only dining venues with direct beach access for locals and hotel guests alike.  Here, Chef de Cuisine Christina Coupet, under the direction of Fontainebleau Miami Beach executive chef Thomas Connell, has created an extensive menu of fashionable fare perfect for those looking to dine casually but in-style.  The cuisine artfully blends the fresh aromas of Florida with a flavorful Mediterranean cuisine, while enjoying the DJ-inspired bar scene with innovative cocktails and tapas-style snacks.

The diverse menu offers guests the option to share a variety of dishes like Greek Mezze or Crudité platters for two or a selection of Fruits de Mer from the raw bar. Perfect menu items include a variety of salads such as a traditional Nicoise, Caesar and Greek salads and Puy Lentils with carrots, shallots, tomato, parsley, pancetta and mustard dressing. For those seeking a more substantial meal, La Côte offers a variety of pastas, fresh grilled seafood as well as beachside classics such as sandwiches and wraps.  New evening menu additions created by Coupet for evenings include hamachi ceviche with lemon and coriander oil, mahi mahi bouillabaisse in a tomato saffron broth with mussels, clams and chorizo and lobster thermidor with mushrooms, chives, béchamel and gruyere cheese.

Complementing La Côte’s seasonal cuisine is an innovative cocktail menu and rosé wine bar developed as part of the resort’s expansive cocktail universe.  Guests can take in the night breeze and ocean views while indulging in a variety of cocktails including the classic French 75 made with Bombay Sapphire, Champagne and fresh lemon or opt for pitchers of La Côte’s signature Côte de Provence Sangria or Passion Fruit Mojito – perfect for sharing with friends.

Along with the rest of the shimmering pool deck, La Côte was designed by Jeffrey Beers International, and captures the essence of today’s modern beach club, while the deck as a whole perfectly embodies Morris Lapidus’ original vision of grandeur and playfulness.

Atop the open-air second floor, La Côte offers a variety of seating options including six well-appointed teak frame cabanas featuring billowing sheer fabric and beautifully upholstered lounge furniture.  These seats offer guests a bird’s eye view to observe Fontainebleau’s dramatic ocean views, breathtaking sunset and high-energy pool scene.

The bottom floor is outfitted with all-outdoor seating where guests can cool off under fans while sipping drinks and checking the sports scores on one of the three flat screen televisions at the bar, or order a full meal before heading back out into the Miami sunshine. It’s also a great spot for dinner before indulging in the nightlife at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Ensuring staffers are as fashionable as the surroundings, the Fontainebleau has tapped Vineyard Vines for new staff uniforms.

La Côte is open daily for lunch from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and until 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday for dinner. Reservations aren’t accepted. Telephone: (305) 674-4710. www.fontainebleau.com/lacote.
