Miami Swim Show 2008 - Shay Todd Collection
Fashionistas waited with bated breath to see Los Angeles-based designer Shay Todd’s 2008 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim in the Cabaña Grande, located within the historic Raleigh Hotel Miami Beach.
Hundreds of Miami VIPs, style-makers and celebrities rocked to the music of Superb Records as models showed off their tanned and toned bodies in playful, colorful looks that were perfect for a day at the beach or a jet-set jaunt in St. Tropez. The looks brought to mind the glamorous Parisian, American and Italian cinema starlets of the 60’s, with a hint of 70’s and 80’s and the modern elements of the new Millennium. Graphic bold prints, delicious colors and sexy silhouettes flowed seamlessly together to give the collection a unique feel. Guests received amazing gift bags overflowing with Smashbox makeup and OPI nail polishes.
A veritable who’s who of celebrities, socialites and industry VIP’s, toasted the new line including: socialite and model, Kim Kardashian; Miami “It-Boy”, Ariel Stein; Chutney Ross, daughter of Diana Ross; actor and supermodel Tyson Beckford; Miami’s nightlife queen, Ingrid Casares; rapper, DJ Clue; Los Angeles socialite, Samantha Pressley; Latin pop recording artist, Ana Christina; and stylist and fashion critic, Robert Verdi. After the show, designer Shay Todd and partner and husband Shiro Gutzie, a successful Hollywood music and film producer, had an intimate dinner with friends at Social Miami at the Sagamore Hotel. The celebration moved to uber-exclusive Mokai, where the festivities lasted until the early hours of the morning. Superstar celebrities Ken Paves, hairstylist to the stars and Miami music producer, Scott Storch, attended Mokai for the Shay Todd party.
Shay Todd, along with partner and husband Shiro Gutzie, have been dressing Hollywood’s elite in exotically seductive designs for the past six years. At the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards Eva Longoria donned Shay Todd’s ballet pink one-piece ruffle swimsuit. Shay Todd also designed the slinky black swimsuit Paris Hilton wore in the infamous Carl’s Jr. commercial that was deemed “too hot for TV.”
Todd’s designs combine runway-inspired couture with beach-ready function, making super-sexy attention-demanding, statement pieces.
