South Beach Muxtape Challenge!

gal2.jpgIt’s the first ever South Beach Muxtape Challenge!

POP QUIZ!

Did you ever record a mixtape of songs to impress your friends or provide an audio backdrop for the perfect road trip?

Do you load your iPod with songs for the gym or the beach or for those quiet moments with the one you love?

Do you think you might make an excellent DJ?

Our friend Justin at muxtape.com runs a fun community website where anyone can log on and upload a selection of mp3 files that make up a personal soundtrack. We popped on earlier today and discovered some very exciting new music. This got us thinking about what kind of music defines our South Beach experience.

South Beach is hot and sexy, a little bit Latin and a little bit hip hop. It’s got the nostalgia of the Art Deco era and the cutting edge of all these brand new high rises. But honestly - what does South Beach SOUND like?

We started messing around and came up with this:

Our first pass at the Sounds of the City includes the old and the new, the instrumental and the electronic. There is something decidedly corny and retro and a few riffs that just make us smile. We think it’s pretty good for a work in progress… just like South Beach.

Our challenge to you is simple. Log onto www.muxtape.com and create your own personal South Beach soundtrack. Once you have something that represents you or captures your aural experience of Miami, add the link to our comments section.

We always say how much we love to hear from you. Now we want to HEAR from you. Log on, get creative and show us your stuff.

We’re listening…
