There is an official state of LOCKDOWN at the Raleigh Hotel right now as the Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld is staging his legendary CHANEL Cruise Collection Thursday, May 15th at the hotel’s breathtaking pool. If the rest of the planet seems a bit less “Super,” know that the top supermodels and fashion editors are making their way through customs at Miami International Airport just now to take their place at another history-making CHANEL event.
Team CHANEL have arrived and are currently stalking the hipster hallways in impossibly tall stilettos making certain everything is ready to roll for this Once-in-a-Fashion-Lifetime event. If you fear your invitation was lost in the mail, worry no longer. Rumors swirling around the city have placed Diane Kruger, Anna Mouglalis, Zoe Kravitz and Cat Power in front row seats around the poolside runway. On May 18th last year, Lagerfeld staged a dazzling runway presentation at the Santa Monica Airport with models parading out of an all-white jet in the travel-ready Cruise season classics. While large format collections for Spring and Fall are staged around the globe, the Cruise season is a more intimate series of designs originally produced for the wealthy voyager who needed fashions for luxury cruises to sunny climates during the middle of winter.
Lagerfeld loves Miami and selected the Raleigh this year as one of his favorite travel destinations. During his last visit, the legendary designer was not only spotted dining at Prime 112, but sampling a frozen concoction at Ocean Drive’s Wet Willies Bar! The CHANEL Cruise collection is perfect for Miami Girls who appreciate the chic, relaxed designs that are infinitely wearable while the rest of the world hides out in heavy winter coats.
The collection Lagerfeld shows this Thursday will be available in CHANEL boutiques around the world starting in November. Lucky for us, we get to see it first!
