Dita Von Teese at Cameo in Miami Beach

dit1.jpgDoing the slow burn in a Miami Beach nightclub was an art form perfected decades ago by such legendary peelers as Tempest Storm, Sally Rand and Mistress Zorita, but Saturday night’s show at Cameo in South Beach with Dita Von Teese was more than a mere glimpse of a mostly forgotten art. It was a celebration of sensuality played out in Dita’s signature giant martini glass at the new Washington Avenue club.

Though Von Teese originally intended to peruse a career in ballet and was classically trained in that regard, her love of all-things-Hollywood during the golden age of cinema in the 1940’s and 50’s led her first into glamour-fetish modeling (where her ability to cinch her waist down to a mere 16 inches came in handy) and ultimately to her modern-day retro Burlesque performances.

Dita Von Teese is the soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Marilyn Manson, and is also the author of Burlesque and the Art of the Teese.
