Carmel Ophir Launches The Vagabond in Downtown Miami

1.jpgCarmel Ophir threw a pre-opening launch party for a few thousand of his closest friends at his new club, The Vagabond, Thursday night in downtown Miami. The new club is owned by Carmel, DJ John Digweed and Rodney Mayo, and has two indoor rooms plus a gorgeous outdoor patio area that’s one of the best in all of Miami clubland.

The Vagabond makes a few changes from its incarnation as I/O Lounge. The main room stage is gone (for now) making the room somewhat more dance-able than it previously was. But, for my taste the outdoor area is where the scene will be. Very nice.

Miami word-man John Hood, dressed in his usual 1962 Montgomery-Ward attire, hit the club around midnight and was immediately accosted by Kasha’s beyond-kissable red lips. The whole scene was a blur of blond hair, tattoos and fedoras.

Tom Lackner, Duran and the rest of the Miaminights heathens stopped their carousing just long enough for a few photos, then roared off in search of another cocktail. Edison Farrow of Sobesocialclub on-hand, taking a break from his usual Thursday night party at Buck 15 to check out the Vag’s new design.

All-in-all, a great first night at The Vagabond.  More photos here
