Mr. Clean Checks Out

In the wake of so much bad news and thoroughly dirty dealings, we awoke to discover that House Peters Junior had died in Los Angeles at 92. While we ponder the supremely bad mojo of another crappy election debate, another bank failing, another vote to save the evildoers on Wall Street, another OJ trial and a sense that it’s a dirty dirty world after all, it’s no wonder the guy who made it to the big leagues playing Mr. Clean finally kicked the bucket…

House Peters Jr. was a hard working character actor who played many supporting roles in his career from the 1930s to the 1960s including sidekick cowboys to Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, and finally a star turn as Sheriff Jim Billings on the TV series Lassie. His book, “Another Side of Hollywood” details his life in the land of dreams which changed dramatically when Procter & Gamble tapped him to be the bald headed, earring wearing, muscular spokesman for their popular household cleaner.

In a fitting end to the week and in tribute to another fallen American hero, here is a video salute to the Original Mr. Clean.
