Fisher Island’s Palazzo Del Sol
While Fisher Island was once the winter home of the New York Central Railroad’s Vanderbilt family, it now looms large as a tropical haven for the moneyed class and provides a convenient respite from the hype and hustle of its tacky neighbor to the north, South Beach. Even though the two are a mere chip-shot away from each other across Miami’s Government Cut and share nothing in common in the way of ambiance, there is one similarity—a red-hot real estate market.
Coming soon to Fisher Island is Palazzo Del Sol, a new $300 million development slated to provide 47 residential condo units ranging in size from 3,700 up to a breath-taking 25,000 square feet. The project includes a lagoon pool surrounded by cabanas, fountains, a waterfall, valet parking and concierge services.
Fisher Island’s amenities include 131 boat slips in two-deep water marinas, 18 tennis courts, a nine-hold P.B. Dye golf course, eight restaurants, a 62-room hotel, a retail center, and, of course, a polo field.
The Vanderbilt family’s former mansion is now used as Fisher Island’s clubhouse and the only way to reach the island is via private ferry from the MacArthur Causeway.
