Asprey Miami at the Setai
Classic American style evokes images of the Marlboro man, out on the plains all crusty and masculine in a faded bandana and well-worn Levis. The French have that “je ne sais quoi,” an inherent ability to make something terribly simple look irresistibly chic.
And then there are the Brits…
Everything traditional and upper-crusty makes the Brits look stuffy and staid and - of course, we admire that. When we go hunting, we’re wearing camo and bug spray. When the Brits hit the fields, they’re wearing tartan and ascots, tweed jackets and tailored leather boots…
Asprey Holdings Limited has been making classic British luxury goods since 1781. For those of you who paid attention in history class, that makes Asprey practically as old as… our entire country. Asprey of Bond Street represents style, refinement and quality all around the world. While the concept of luxury is batted around in marketing these days, we can say with quiet confidence that few brands have the authentic heritage these guys do without needing a whole lot of deep blue letters and swirly type. To wit - while Ralph Lauren is a Bronx born tie maker who aspires to polo playing, Asprey actually makes the stuff Ralph wears in his adopted ancestry.
The Royal Family in England issues Royal Warrants to businesses that furnish them with goods and services. Asprey received it’s first Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1862 and counts among it’s clients J.P. Morgan, Elizabeth Taylor, and celebrities from Sir Elton John to Woody Allen to the Beckhams.
South Beach is about to get a close up look at the pedigreed collection from the House of Asprey as the Setai Hotel opens the first Asprey outpost in town. Guests of the posh Setai can purchase the handbags, luggage and accessories favored by stars and royals for over 200 years. Prices will range from $160 for small leather goods to $37,000 for a purple crocodile bar set with sterling silver and crystal martini glasses. Renowned for fine jewelery, watches, clocks, clothing and a signature fragrance, Asprey brings a surge of upmarket retail to the South Beach marketplace.
