South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2009 | On Our Radar

164f.jpgVisitors to South Florida interested in attending next year’s FoodTV Network schmoozefest of celebrity chefs should be prepared to shell out big bucks and make reservations before the end of October as the city should be nearing DefCon Five by the time the first Brand Name skillet hits the fire. The South Beach Wine and Food Fest heats up February 19-22.

Mid-February 2009 hotel rooms and rates are already soaring out of reach as the Perfect Storm of the Miami International Boat Show (12-16), President’s Weekend (13-16), the Winter Party and the Food Fest collide to create a blocked booking of every property in the city. To make matters worse, folks cruising through to the Port of Miami often look up to discover they simply can’t get here from anywhere and wonder what happened to their relaxing vacation plans.

What to do? STRATEGIZE.

Book a room at once. Have credit cards in hand and know that the first tickets for all of the Wine and Food events go on sale at T minus 28 days – or October 27th at www.sobewineandfoodfest.com Although the tickets for each individual event are extremely pricey, MANY sell out in advance. Read about individual events at the website and decide which ones suit your particular appetites.

Events currently include appearances by Tyler Florence, Mario Batalli, John Besh, Paula Dean, and Bravo-TV Top Chef Tom Colicchio. Admission to the Grand Tasting Village tops out at over $200, the Joe’s Stone Crab night will set you back $150, the Paula Dean Casino night $150 and the Wine Spectator Party is a walloping $350…

To read about the individual events and sign up for the monthly newsletter, log onto sobewineandfoodfest.com or call 877-762-3933

Bon Appétit!
