Miami Beach Weekend Itinerary for March 20-23

weekend33.jpg

This weekend we rewrite the book on March Madness as we prepare for the launch of Winter Music Conference. Remember: Sleep is for Slackers here in South Beach!  Here’s your itinerary for March 20-23

Thursday March 20
Breakfast

Paul Maison de Qualite / 450 Lincoln Road / Ease into this weekend as if it were a too-hot bath… Surround your morning with the aroma of just-baked bread and try to resist the delicate almond croissants paired with a hot latte. Sit, soak, sip and say, “Ahhhhhhh…”

Lunch

Parrilla Liberty / 609 Washington Avenue / From noon to midnight, the Argentinian waiters at this super-friendly steakhouse will go out of their way to make your meal a meaty-good time! Grab a table at their brand new location and enjoy the mixed grill combo platter while catching up on the latest scores at this soccer fan’s favorite hangout.

Afternoon Action

Ritz Carlton South Beach / 1 Lincoln Road / There is only one way to prepare for the onslaught that we call a weekend and that is to hit the spa at the Ritz for their Thursday night “Bubbles and Blowouts” Pre-Game event. You’ll simply sit VERY still and sip Perrier Jouët champagne and perhaps nibble a bit of fresh fruit or cheese while the stylists spritz and primp your pampered locks with Carita, Privé, and L’Oréal Professional products until you shine and sparkle. Book a spot at this much-needed hair raising event by calling 786-276-4090

Cocktails

Oasis at the Raleigh / 1775 Collins Avenue / Sip a perfectly chilled martini at this retro landmark and feel just a wee bit closer to the Rat Pack. There is something classy yet modern about the Raleigh and the sexy Oasis bar makes the most of its history and it’s chilled steel shakers!

Dinner

Forge Restaurant and Lounge / 432 Arthur Godfrey Road / Book a table at this stately old-school dining room and feast on aged prime beef, extraordinary vintage wines and the kind of service that’s as rare as a wrinkle on South Beach. Attracting a dressy, older, moneyed crowd, the Forge is a special occasion destination that still offers a decadent soufflé made to order for dessert.

Nightlife

Cameo / 1445 Washington Avenue / Thursdays at Cameo are the stuff of legend and this week’s Tu Madre Spring Break Party gets an extra kick with an open bar from 10 til midnight as DJs Lazardi, Lou Flores, Nikolas and Mark G rock the house with House, Hip-Hop, Rock and Latin beats.

Friday March 21
Breakfast

La Sandwicherie / 229 14th Street / A favorite haunt for club kids, beach-goers, vacationing parents and savvy locals, this sidewalk window makes a great breakfast including energizing smoothies, freshly prepared fruit salads or eggs on a crispy baguette. If the atmosphere on 14th Street isn’t your ideal vibe, pack everything to go and enjoy your morning repast out on the beach or have everything delivered to you in bed by calling 305-532-8934

Lunch

Le Bon / 723 Lincoln Road / There is nothing more Belgian than moules and beer and the mussel pots at this busy sidewalk eatery are their most popular entree. Grab a table midday and try them steamed in a white wine sauce with crispy fries and a strong Belgian brew. Landlubbers can feast on the cheesy croque monsieur and still feel like they’ve made a side trip to Bruges.

Evening Action

Jay-Z at the Fillmore Miami Beach / 1700 Washington Avenue/ The smart money is on southbeach-usa.com for tipping you to the hottest ticket in town tonight and that’s Jay-Z’s pre-Tour concert at the Fillmore. Dress to impress and keep your eyes on the front rows to catch the who’s-who of our loyal readers who scored big tix for this last-minute massive show.

Cocktails

Pelican Hotel / 826 Ocean Drive / Escape the tourist hustle at this cool little bar off the lobby of the Diesel-owned Pelican Hotel and enjoy a Chocotini overlooking the Atlantic. Campy and cool, the Pelican manages to rise above the fray with kooky themed rooms and a crowd of fun international tipplers you’ll want to meet.

Dinner

Indomania / 131 26th Street / Escape to the tastes of Indonesia this evening at this cozy, out-of-the-way dining room. Rijsttafel (rice) plates topped with chicken, seafood or vegetarian options are served family style so you can sample a bit of the Thai-meets-Indian spiced cooking. If you fancy the flavors of curry and coconut, chili and lime, take a quick trip up the beach to try something new.

Nightlife

Studio A & Nocturnal / 50 NE 11th St / Downtown celebrates March Madness tonight with a line-up of House versus Techno SO BIG, you need to dance through TWO clubs to experience it all. Don’t fret; one admission gets you into the two clubs all night long! Nocturnal’s Team House includes Parantula, The K, George Carrasco, Andrew Chibale, Diaga, Ivan D, Hectik Rivero, Paul E, DOS, Eddy Miranda, and Enrico Caschetta. When you’re too weak to move, jump over to Studio A to hear Alexa, The K, Anatoli Russki, Lopera, Dsan Powell, LaFemme, Muse and Thomas Quiceno turn techno upside down. 786-390-8931 myspace.com/silanoz

Saturday March 22
Breakfast

Big Pink / 157 Collins Avenue / Thick slices of gooey French Toast slathered with butter and real maple syrup sound good today? We thought so. After a night like THAT you’ll need to realign your chakras and revive your spirit (or switch immediately to an egg and a beer). Good news is - Big Pink can fill BOTH orders as the bar opens early and the breakfasts are HUGE and comforting!

Lunch

Sushi Samba Dromo / 600 Lincoln Road / Keeping it light and spicy this afternoon, the chefs at this fusion Latin and Sushi Bar offer “Anticuchos,” grilled skewers of meat and veggies served hibachi style over Peruvian corn. Create your own bento box lunch with miso soup and a sushi roll and you’ve got a combo with a little extra Mambo!

Evening Action

Gansevoort South Hotel / 2377 Collins Avenue / Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion Event takes to the runways tonight featuring emerging regional designers strutting their new duds before the hungry eyes of the local fashionistas in hopes of scoring a lucrative gig on the racks of posh boutiques all over the country. Advance tickets are available at the Gen Art website or by calling 305-695-8200 www.genart.com

Cocktails

Deco Blue / 161 Ocean Drive / Oceanside on SoFi, this quiet little bar captures our imagination once again with its chill vibe and strong drinks. The perfect antidote to the busy weekend scene, you’ll feel like you’ve finally found the Pause Button on the Miami Beach Merry-Go-Round.

Dinner

Ago at the Shore Club / 1901 Collins Avenue / Dive into dinner overlooking the pool or feast on hearty Tuscan fare inside the chic and clubby-looking restaurant. Steps away from the stark whiteness of the Shore Club lobby, Ago offers an escape to a romantic and trendy scene.

Nightlife

Pawn Shop Lounge / 1222 NE 2nd Avenue / Saturdays have a certain Cache at Pawn Shop where Made Records own Austin Leeds fills the main room with his Dirty Sounds tonight. Fusing Electro House with Tribal Beats, Leeds has created a new sound that’s taking him over the top on the international club circuit. Joining his powerhouse line up are DJs Seasunz, Fresko, Vinni Soul, and Chino. Reserve a table at 305-804-2902

Sunday March 23 Easter
Brunch

Joley at the Astor / Washington Avenue / While most Sunday brunches are sold out well in advance, the brand new Joley at the Astor welcomes walk ins for an a la carte Easter menu devised by star chef John Suley. If weather permits, start your morning by the waterfall out front on the patio and enjoy this contemporary American bistro.

Afternoon Action

Jungle Island / Watson Island / The hottest ticket in town today is the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Jungle Island where lucky tikes who discover the golden eggs will win certificates redeemable for Nintendo Wii Game systems. Join the party with your kids and enjoy face painting, animal shows, photos with the Easter Bunny and trained animal demonstrations until 6pm.

Cocktails

The Beach Bar at the Setai / 2001 Collins Avenue / The 90-foot poolside bar provides a welcoming retreat this afternoon where you can select from an exotic Asian-inspired snack menu, gaze at the 3 swimming pools or simply regroup with a cocktail in the cool ocean breeze.

Dinner

Blue Door / 1685 Collins Avenue / Restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and Chef Claude Troisgros create a fusion of French and Brazilian cuisines at this temple of all things chic and modern. Enjoy a quiet dinner in the cozy dining room or request a table on the terrace as Jennifer Aniston did last weekend and you’re sure to find yourself sparkling under the glow of a thousand brilliant stars.

Nightlife

Florida Room / 1685 Collins Avenue / Owen Wilson kept a gaggle of adoring fans enthralled this week at the Florida Room, but rumor has it his on-again-off-again paramour Kate Hudson has joined him on Star Island while he’s here shooting “Marley and Me.” This stunning hideaway glows beneath bronze mirrors and twinkling chandeliers like a post-modern speakeasy. Continue your star gazing ways after dinner at this cool new piano lounge.

Have Fun!
