Miami Beach Itinerary June 5-8

We’re celebrating the season at the Beach and also down in Coconut Grove where the Goombay Fest gives us another good reason to shake and shimmy in the afternoon sunshine. There are a bunch of hot parties and cool DJs in town to get the night air blowing just a wee bit stronger. Put on something sexy and get ready to feel the Real Miami Heat!   Here’s your itinerary for June 5-8    

 
Thursday June 5
Breakfast

Friday June 6
Breakfast

Balans / 1022 Lincoln Road / Omelets and eggs benedict - Oh My! Breakfast burritos filled with pepperjack cheese, scallions, salsa fresca and sour cream - Ole! This popular sidewalk cafe has a little something for every belly and a whole lot of people watching while you’re deciding what to order.

Le Buchon du Grove / 3430 Main Highway / Our favorite quirky French bistro offers sidewalk seating that’s not exactly Paris but definitely a treat on a quiet Friday afternoon. Weekends tend to be too hectic, but this is the perfect warm up for your Goombay Fest crawl. Country-style, rustic dishes are prepared and served with loving care. Bon Apetit!

The Daily Creative Food Co. / 2001 Biscayne Boulevard / We’re heading south today to take in the action in Coconut Grove. Breakfast finds us at “The Daily,” a locals favorite for sandwiches, paninis, and stuffed-bagel breakfasts galore.

Lunch

Green Street Cafe / 3468 Main Highway, Coconut Grove / Big guys, big dogs, big dishes… This hearty diner serves classic American fare to a loyal local crowd 7-days-a-week and late into the night. Crabcakes, burgers, and huge salads keep the tables filled and the endless parade of Grove shoppers keeps most diners happily entertained.

Evening Action

Coconut Grove Art Crawl / 3439 Main Highway / At 7 p.m., start the Art Tour at the Heart of the Grove Gallery, which is showcasing the works of the GroveHouse Artists group. From there, find the Midori Gallery or the Butter Gallery at Commodore Plaza before landing at CocoWalk’s Alternate Arts Space Gallery (3015 Grand Avenue) for a little wine and cheese.

A mere $35 gets you a 3-course New World Caribbean dinner including your choice of a tropical mango salad or West Indian crabcakes followed by a jerked chicken penne pasta or guava Bacardi Rum spiced pork chops or curried shrimp and scallops served over coriander scented jasmine rice. Sunday June 8
Brunch

The Birdcage Brunch @ Gem / 671 Washington Avenue / Brave diners who fancy a bit of a drag show with their eggs are waking up at Gem this weekend with Argentinean Queen Cabaret members FernanDcute and Geraldine who host a weekly soiree from 11am-4pm with songs, dancing and a cast of special guests including Pussila and other visiting royals.

Royal Poinciana Festival @ Kampong / 4013 Douglas Road / This weekend’s celebration kicks off at noon with a picnic lunch and antique car show at the former home of world-renowned botanist David Fairchild.
