Miami Beach Itinerary June 12-15

weekend5a.jpgWe celebrate Dad with an action-packed weekend he’s sure to enjoy. We’re steering away from the frilly and girly (mostly) to create the perfect guy’s vacation. Celebrate the top pops with cold beer, sizzling steaks and a 168-foot drop down a sparkling water slide… Just say, “Let’s go daddy-O” and we’re off! Here’s your itinerary for June 12-15

Thursday June 12
Breakfast

Taste Cafe / 900 Alton Road / Kick off dad’s special weekend with a quick breakfast at this popular sidewalk cafe and then a hop over to Carr’s, an old-fashioned Barber Shop specializing in signature haircuts and hot shaves. Nothing fancy and girly here, there are no “stylists,” just some proper guy’s grooming for your favorite guy’s guy. Carr’s Barber Shop 1318 Alton Road 305-673-0877

Lunch

Scotty’s Landing / 3381 Pan American Drive / Waterfront dining in Miami is tough to find and Scotty’s is definitely worth the hunt. Tucked behind a busy Coconut Grove marina, this bay front bistro features cold beers, hot fish & chips and friendly service. Grab a table under the shade of a market umbrella and spend a while just enjoying the view. Welcome to Miami!

Evening Action

Lowe Art Museum / 1301 Stanford Drive / Myrna and Sheldon Palley have donated their $3.5 million glass collection to the Lowe Art Museum including works by Dale Chihuly, Marvin Lipofsky, Harvey Littleton, and Therman Statom. Starting today, more than a hundred pieces are on view at the brand new Palley Pavilion at the Lowe, the first major addition to the museum in 12 years.

Cocktails

Hotel Victor Lounge / 1144 Ocean Drive / Still crazy after all these years, Thursday nights at the Victor are the perfect combination of chill people, strong drinks and an upscale lounge vibe.

Dinner

Joley / 956 Washington Avenue / Whether seated in the busy Art Deco dining room or the ultra-romantic patio, this brand new South Beach restaurant is sure to please. Grilled baby squid over arugula salad and fresh local snapper served with a side of heavenly white truffled grits sets the mood for fine Florida-style dining. It’s tres Joley!

Nightlife

Mokai / 235 23rd Street / Good news travels fast and we’re wild about “Front Page, ” a party night with DJs Patrick M and Stephan Luke on the decks. Follow the crowd to 23rd Street where Mokai is definitely tweaking the sounds of cool.

Friday June 13
Breakfast

Pelican Cafe / 826 Ocean Drive / Lucky for you we think Friday the 13th is a whole lot of fun. Take the chill out of the morning with a tall stack of pancakes, a fluffy omelet and a side of crispy bacon at our favorite place to start the day.

Lunch

Prime 112 / 112 Ocean Drive / Serving lunch from noon-3pm, our favorite way to avoid the beach-going crowds is at  a patio table enjoying the sea air and a 1lb. Kobe beef burger, truffled fries and a cold, cold beer. Now THAT’s a cheeseburger in paradise…

Evening Action

The Fillmore / 1700 Washington Avenue / Eddie Izzard is simply our favorite cross-dressing comedian whether he’s dressed as a girl or not. With food this tasty, it’s hard to believe it’s healthy too!

Lunch

La Marea / 1220 Ocean Drive / San Marzano tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil create a Pomodoro soup that tastes like - Italy! Pietro Rota’s pasta is freshly made and just al dente, served with a crown of baby clams or a spicy tomato sauce like Mama used to make. escape.
