Miami Beach Itinerary October 23-26 2008

weekend5a.jpgThe air is filled with the sheer electricity of another busy season! Halloween week kicks off with a series of parties and surprise celebrity guests that rivals New Years Eve. We have covered the city from end to end to give you the latest
updates on where to go and what to wear to parties that span nearly ten days of Tricks and Treats. With all this in mind, it’s time to consider this week’s game plan for October 23-26; a unique collection of concerts, club dates and hot
restaurants you’ll want to check out between costume changes.

Here’s your itinerary for October 23-26…

Thursday October 23

Breakfast

Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill / 40 Island Avenue / Take a walk on the wild west side this morning with eggs benedict overlooking Biscayne Bay at the Standard Spa. The Raleigh Hotel offers a free shuttle to their sister property which serves healthy meals and offers body treatments and yoga classes all day long. Stay for an hour, a day or all weekend.

Lunch

Elemis @ Loews/ 1601 Collins Avenue/ Star chef Emeril LaGasse has created one of the most delicious spa-friendly menus for the Loews guest seeking pampering at the 18,500-square-foot Art Deco Elemis Spa. Enjoy a light lunch while you indulge in a massage, body wrap or full-service salon treatment. As an added bit of inspiration, remember that professional make up artists at local beauty salons can help you get yourself ghoulish or gorgeous for Halloween.

Evening Action

Festival Miami @ Bank United Center / 1245 Dauer Drive, Coral Gables / The University of Miami presents 23 concerts this month in venues across the county. Tonight, Bruce Hornsby, Steve Miller, Ricky Skaggs, Monica Mancini, Patti Austin, Jon Secada, Tom Scott, and Will Lee perform at the college backed by the Henry Mancini Orchestra.

Cocktails

Room / 100 Collins Ave / With drink specials from 6-10pm, Room plays a mix of rock, hip-hop, and lounge music that keeps the locals coming back for more. Think: Hipster Cheers…

Dinner

Nobu at the Shore Club / 1901 Collins Avenue / You may think it’s contradictory to say so, but we find the cooked food even better than the famous sushi dishes at the South Beach location of this internationally famous Japanese hotspot. Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s black miso cod, rock shrimp tempura and deep-fried spinach are tops for the raw fish phobes in your party. Reservations 305-695-3232

Nightlife

Plunge @ Gansevoort / 2377 Collins Avenue / Party 18 stories above the ocean with a wild bunch of local beauties tonight. This swank adults-only pool deck features 26,000 sq.ft. of party space with sexy cabanas, cozy sun beds and a crowd that just won’t quit. Take the plunge!

Friday October 24

Breakfast

Wish / 801 Collins Avenue / One of the top restaurants on Ocean Drive serves breakfast starting at 7am with classic entrees and a few fun twists like cinnamon brioche French Toast with bananas, strawberries and hot maple syrup. What more could you Wish for?

Lunch

Tiramesu / 721 Lincoln Road / This casual Italian eatery serves crisp, just-fried calamari with tender zucchini strips to nibble with a cold Peroni while you check out the window shoppers on Lincoln Mall. Sidewalk cafe dining on South Beach doesn’t get much better than this!

Evening Action

Kidz in the Hall @ SoBe Live / 1203 Washington Avenue / Part Miami Dolphin VIP party and part rap performance, the Kidz appear tonight for a crowd that promises to be loud and live! The boys from N*E*R*D are also rumored to be a surprise added attraction.

Cocktails

DJ Smeejay @ Ritz / 1 Lincoln Road / With drink specials, hookah pipes and DJ Smeejay on the decks, the Ritz is our favorite happy hour hangout weeknights 6-9pm.

Dinner

Tap Tap / 819 5th Street / Brightly colored, hand-painted murals give this Island restaurant a charming, cozy vibe. Friday night dinners have the added appeal of a live performance by the Maguinha Machado band starting at 8:30pm. Escape to paradise without ever leaving South Beach.

Nightlife

Rogizz @ The Fifth / 1045 5th Street / Live hip-hop shows on the Beach rarely get this good. Check out this Chi-Town superstar as he brings his US Tour of old school beats to the stage tonight.

Saturday October 25

Breakfast

La Marea / 1220 Ocean Drive / Dine on the terrace of an Art Deco landmark overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the rising sun. Doesn’t it feel like a dream? The recent multi-million dollar renovation of the Tides Hotel is the perfect backdrop for Pietro Rota’s delicious cuisine. Breakfast starts at 7am.

Lunch

Nemo / 100 Collins Avenue / Chef Larry La Valley takes over the kitchen at this romantic restaurant tucked beneath the shade of an ancient plum tree. He’s done little to change the menu though one might argue Nemo’s cuisine is so popular because everyone seems to have a favorite dish. Find yours at lunch today.

Evening Action

The Australian Pink Floyd Show @ Fillmore / 1700 Washington Avenue/ Fans of classic rock gather at 8pm tonight for a remarkable tribute to the band. This all-ages rock show promises to unite parents and their hip-hop loving kids under a giant inflatable pig you’ll need to see to believe! ticketmaster.com

Cocktails

Mariana Martin @ South Seas / 1751 Collins Avenue / Enjoy a little bossa nova with your cocktails tonight under the swaying palms at the South Seas. Music from 8-11pm.

Dinner

Prime One Twelve / 112 Ocean Drive / Still one of the hottest restaurants in town, Prime One Twelve serves huge steaks, giant lobsters and side dishes large enough for the table to share. The odds of spotting a celebrity table-hopping are greatest on Saturday nights. Reservations are a must 305-532-8112

Nightlife

Tila Tequila @ Karu & Y / 71 NW 14th Street, Downtown / Celebrate with the Web’s most popular “Girl-Most-Likely” as she bares it all for her birthday party to the sounds of DJ Roxanne Dawn. Karu & Y continues it’s massive comeback this season with celebrity appearances scheduled throughout 2008 including Cisco Adler, Tommy Lee, Joel Madden and Lindsay Lohan’s BFF Samantha Ronson.

Sunday October 26

Brunch

Amazing Sundays @ Nikki Beach / 1 Ocean Drive / The two sides of your brain will do battle when faced with the prospect of an all-you-can-eat brunch served at one of the hottest, barest, sexiest venues on South Beach. No place to hide your belly full of pancakes? Buy a breezy cover-up to throw on after you indulge in all the pastries, omelets and crunchy bacon. DJs Armand Pena and Patrick M keep the party going all day long.

Afternoon Action

Therapy @ Raleigh / 1775 Collins Avenue / One of the best pool parties on South Beach returns to the Raleigh Hotel and Beach Club where New York DJ Exacta hosts a CD Release Party for his new disc “Nervous Nightlife: New Headliners V.1″ This Pacha-NYC Halloween Splash starts at noon with DJs Justin Sheppard, Nikolas and Tavin Reiter keeping things moving until WAY after dark.

Cocktails

Doggy-style @ Victor / 1144 Ocean Drive / Whether you have a dog or just need the perfect excuse to chat with some cutie who does, the happy hour at the Victor from 5-7pm provides the easiest opening line for any would-be hook ups. Snacks are provided for the pooches and the Dalmatian Cocktail (vodka, coconut and white chocolate liqueur) will help you get your begging game on. Woof!

Dinner

Bond Street Lounge / 150 20th Street / Chef Hirokazu Asano’s sushi, sashimi and prepared dishes are simply some of the finest Japanese cuisine on South Beach (where the sushi bars are plentiful but not very promising). With a sleek, nightclubby vibe, you’ll want to dress smart and book a table in advance 305-398-1806

Nightlife

Danny Howells @ SET / 320 Lincoln Road / The celebrated DJ, producer and re-mixer takes the spotlight tonight at SET where Sunday’s Sundance parties dominate the scene. Stephan Luke opens.
