Miami Beach Itinerary November 6-9

weekend5a.jpgThe weekends are getting harder to plan as great parties seem to be popping up all over town! If you are having trouble deciding where to go November 6-9, we’ve sorted through the concerts and DJs, the exhibits and brunches and put together a game plan that’s definitely going to keep you on your toes. There’s an auto show filled with next year’s hot new models and a fund-raising designer super sale that’s not just for girls who love to shop! The clubs are already filled to capacity with great dance and hip hop music and the top restaurants already require a few days advanced reservations. The season is definitely in full swing!

Check out our choices, make a few phone calls and get ready for another Wild South Beach Adventure…

Have a Great Weekend!

Thursday November 6

Breakfast

News Cafe / 800 Ocean Drive / Weekday mornings on Ocean Drive are tranquil and serene. We prefer these moments of relative calm to the frenzy of weekend events, especially since the wait times for a table at the News is so brief. Opened 24/7, this legendary cafe keeps the menu simple and the people watching top notch!

Lunch

Agua @ Delano / 1685 Collins Avenue / High atop the chic white spaces of the Beach’s most celebrity-friendly hotel sits a spa and sundeck where you can lunch, tan and enjoy a view of the city that’s simply the best in town. The full Blue Door kitchen is at your service as you enjoy a Traveler’s Retreat - a lavender herb scrub, custom massage and scalp treatment.

Afternoon Action

Teatime @ Biltmore / 1200 Anastasia Avenue / As the weather shifts from simmer to chill, drop into the elegant lobby of the famous Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables to experience high tea; a British tradition of formal serve ware and freshly-baked scones. Linger in the vaulted lobby and enjoy soft guitar music while you sip imported brews served with finger sandwiches from 3-4:30pm daily. RSVP 305-445-8066 ext 2779.

Cocktails

Spire Lounge / 801 Collins Avenue / The view from the rooftop makes this a perfect destination for a sundown cocktail overlooking the sea and the neon vistas of South Beach.

Dinner

Meat Market / 915 Lincoln Road / The folks from Touch resto-lounge have moved across the street into the former Pacific Time space to bring another upscale steakhouse to Lincoln Road. If you have a taste for prime beef, fine wine and a clubby atmosphere, make a reservation at Sean Brasel’s sizzling new hot spot. Reservations 305-532-0088 Lunch service begins in December.

Nightlife

Giant Step @ Delano / 1685 Collins Avenue / Pop down to the Florida Room tonight and experience the upscale speakeasy atmosphere featuring a once-a-month live showcase of top performers in a chic, intimate space. At the mic tonight, songstress Anané performs at 10pm with DJ Louie Vega spinning a mix of Afro-Latino beats. RSVP 305-674-6152.

Plunge @ Gansevoort / 2377 Collins Avenue / Party 18 stories above the ocean with local beauties in a gorgeous open-air setting tonight. This swank adults-only rooftop lounge features 26,000 sq.ft. of party space with sexy cabanas, cozy sun beds and a crowd that just won’t quit. Take the plunge!

Friday November 7

Breakfast

La Provence / 1627 Collins Avenue / Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but we’re partial to the still-warm pastries served at this casual patisserie where pan au chocolat and a strong cup of coffee get the day started just right!

Lunch

Front Porch Cafe / 1418 Ocean Drive / Friendly service and a view to the sea makes a meal at this casual terrace cafe one of the best deals on the strip. With freshly-squeezed juices and overstuffed sandwiches, two can share a lunch platter and still have room for dessert.

Evening Action

Legends of Jazz / 1300 Biscayne Boulevard / The biggest names in the genre of Jazz perform at the Adrienne Arsht Center tonight at 8pm including Dave Brubeck, Paquito D’Rivera, Bob James, Nathan East, Harvey Mason, and Larry Carlton. Chicago-based vocalist Kurt Elling rounds out the group. ticketmaster.com

Cocktails

Happy Ending @ SushiSamba/ 600 Lincoln Road / Celebrate the end of another wacky work week with free hand massages, pitchers of frosty caipirinhas and sushi specials from 5-8pm.

Dinner

World Resources Cafe / 719 Lincoln Road / Enjoy the breezy weather dining on the sidewalk at this Asian fusion restaurant where the sushi is as tempting as the Pad Thai. Try a ginger vodka and tell your vegetarian friends that World Resources has some of the best meat-free dining on South Beach. 305-535-8987

Nightlife

We Rock Hip Hop @ Mansion / 1235 Washington Avenue / DJ Ideal brings on the beats Friday nights for a crowd that knows how to party. Critical mass doesn’t hit until midnight, but the smart money arrives by 11pm to avoid a long wait at the door.

Saturday November 8

Breakfast

A La Folie / 516 Espanola Way / Linger for hours over a latte and your favorite newspapers while the world slips quietly by this tiny French creperie. Cooler temps and the weekend flea market make Espanola Way a great place to dine alfresco this morning.

Lunch

David’s Cafe / 1654 Meridian Avenue / A visit to Miami is not complete without sampling Cuban food. David’s is our favorite spot for steaming black beans and rice and a tender palomilla steak served with onions and a splash of garlicky chimichurri sauce. Enjoy!

Afternoon Action

Thread @ Soho Studios / 2136 NW 1st Avenue / Fashionistas flock to this annual Girls-Night-Out fundraising event where designer duds are up to 80% off from 4-8pm. Sip cocktails and sort through the treasures, then enjoy a hot runway show by local designers KRELwear, Art of Shade, Nazly Villamizar, Lorie Lester and more! DJs Johnny the Boy and Ryan Evans perform.

Cocktails

Soyka / 5582 NE 4th Court / This Design District hot spot has a great list of boutique vintages poured by the glass and a bartender who knows exactly what you’re craving as the sun sets and the cocktail hour starts.

Dinner

Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink / 130 NE 40th Street / The New York Times rated Michael’s one of the top destinations in the country but it’s still possible to book a table if you want to try the pork shoulder and cheese grits, the whole roast chicken and one of the most innovative kitchens in the city. Reservations at 305-573-5550

Nightlife

Oscar G’s Birthday @ SPACE / 34 NE 11th Street / Join the adoring crowds dancing to Birthday Boy Oscar G’s hot mixes in the Main Room with special guests S.O.S. and the Terrace All-Stars Patrick M and Desyn Masiello spinning all night long.

Sunday November 9

Brunch

Four Seasons Miami / 1435 Brickell Avenue / Start the day with unlimited champagne, buffet breakfast stations, a raw bar with oysters, shrimp, crab and sushi, salads and antipasti, a pasta station and a carvery with lamb, prime roast beef and an entire suckling pig. A separate kids buffet has peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chocolate chip teddy bears too! Reservations 305-381-3190

Afternoon Action

South Florida Auto Show / 1901 Convention Center Drive / Q: What do pole-dancing strippers and new cars have in common? A: They’re both shiny and made of plastic and you probably can’t afford them! Fans of the V-8 engine gather this weekend at Miami Beach Convention Hall for the official kick-off of the Miami Auto Show featuring over 1000 brand new and classic cars you can touch, tire-kick and even sit inside without fear of some over-eager salesman finding out about your damaged credit. Through November 16 - log onto www.sfliautoshow.com for discount tickets

Cocktails

Scotty’s Landing / 3381 Pan American Drive / Spend the afternoon watching the watercraft navigate the islands surrounding Coconut Grove at this popular marina bar and grill where local musicians play all weekend and the crowd is sunburnt and friendly.

Dinner

Jaguar Restaurant / 3067 Grand Avenue / A latin grill serving a variety of innovative ceviche preparations, this popular Coconut Grove restaurant is one of the top spots to dine in the busy shopping district. Enjoy sidewalk seating and then explore the side streets and art galleries all along Commodore Plaza.

Nightlife

Sasha Invol2ver @ SET / 320 Lincoln Road / Sundance Sundays shift into high gear as DJ Sasha and special guests Three rock the house with remixes of electronic hits by groups as diverse as Depeche Mode, Thom Yorke, Chemical Brothers and Madonna.

Have fun!
