Antigua at
Macarena
1334 Washington Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139
305.531.3440

The seven-year success of Macarena restaurant is a rarity
in South Beach, where most restaurants come and go in a frenzy of
hurried openings followed by sorrowful closings once off-season hits.
Macarena captured the magic of Spain in its atmosphere and cuisine, and
crowds have responded with constant adoration and patronage, allowing
them to keep serving us year after year.
Macarena launched a new concept
in early 2005, which includes list of dishes and only two fixed
prices—Every entrée comes with an appetizer included. And with starter
choices like the Tapas Triology (Spanish-style omelet, homemade
croquettes and Serrano ham brochettes) and the Andalusian-Style Gazpacho
to go with entrees like the famous Paella Valencia and Homemade Veal and
Basil Lasagna, Antigua—The restaurant at Macarena is sure to be around
for another seven years.
Be sure to try the sangria, which is delicious
and festive and gets everybody ready for dancing: after midnight on the
weekends, Macarena turns into a Flamenco hot-spot.

Review: I
had dinner there October 2, 2006 with a group of 16 international
business colleagues. The food - Group Menu - was just OK (not
impressive!), and the service was awful. They completely forgot one of
our guest's entrees, even though her order was taken by the waiter at
the same time as everyone else's. They subsequently asked her to wait 15
minutes while they cooked her entrée, which was paella (and bound to
take longer than 15 minutes).
After 20+ minutes, my colleague told
the waiter to forget about serving the entrée (as the rest of the table
had already finished their dinners). It was appalling.
Though they were more minor
infractions, other colleagues got served wrong coffee (espresso vs.
regular decaf) or no coffee at all (though it was ordered). Moreover,
most of us thought the sangria was made from Kool-Aid (we've all had
better sangria elsewhere). I don't recommend going to this restaurant,
especially when there are so many other (good) restaurants in South
Beach. |

Review: Antigua
at Macarena was the perfect ending to my short trip to Miami. The food
was delicious, the drinks hit the spot and the prices were
reasonable...The company was great, too( thanks for taking me,
hon)! I definitely recommend this place. |
