Caffe Milano
850 Ocean Drive
Miami Beach, FL 33139
305.673.0462

Every once in a while even the health-conscious
workout-aholics need a little comfort food. And where do they go? Caffé
Milano. This place is known even by the native Italians to have the most Authentic Italian cuisine around. Where else can one find bresaola (an air-dried beef from Northwest Italy served thinly sliced on a bed of Arugola) and not just one, but your choice of three different kinds of gnocchi.
And one mustn't forget the vast wine list that is complete with a detailed description of the fruity flavors and aromas for each of the wines as only an Italian restaurant could do. Inside the establishment the ambiance is cozy, but the real romance starts when you dine outside by candlelight while enjoying the ocean's warm breeze. And not to worry, a night of romance at Caffé Milano won't break the bank.
Have you tried
Caffe Milano?

Review: After
being seated on a very hot day at the restaurant and waiting exactly 10
minutes with no service, we decided to leave. Upon leaving our table, a
younger blond pony-tailed male employee inquired what the problem was
and why we were leaving. I kindly mentioned that we had waited much to
long for service. He then mentioned that he would have someone serve us
at this time. We declined multiple times as he was insistent to help
us. He then offered to pick up the tab for our lunch. I thought that
this was a decent gesture on his part. When I decided to accept his
offer, he laughed at us and said that no way would he do this for us and
that he didn't want us there. This entire experience happened in the
presence of other dinners. I could see their shock at his unwarranted
attempt to humiliate us for no apparent reason. We were blindsided by
his rudeness. I do not recommend this restaurant as long at this
terrible employee attempts to work there. This ridiculous event
happened over lunch on April 26, 2008 |

Review: We
took advantage of the half price menu and we were not disappointed. The
seared tuna and traditional salad was excellent. We ordered a bottle of
wine and the value was very good. Our waiter was attentive and
friendly. Overall, we had a great time. |

Review: Can
you say, CLIP JOINT?
It all stared at the sidewalk. The
beautiful young blond girl stationed on the sidewalk did her magic on
us. We stopped and she did her pitch. "It was happy hour! "Everything was
50% off including entrees!"
What closed the deal for us was that we
could eat inside which was slightly cooler than eating on the sidewalk.
Our waitress was stone cold at the
beginning which is always a bad sign. This especially scares me as I
have a dangerous allergy to dairy products so eating Italian is a crap
shoot and a potential trip to the ER of the wait staff is not looking
out for me.
The drinks took forever as we had
frozen Margaritas and our waitress told us they have to make them one at
a time.
The food was surprisingly very good. I
had seared tuna cooked to perfection. My guests were satisfied as well.
Then the bill came. Yikes! One hundred
and sixty bucks! And they included the tip!
It turns out that they charged us
$14.00 for our watered down Margaritas which adds up when you have a
few. The waitress pointed out that they charge $15.00 next door!
I explained to her that I would have
given her a bigger tip than what was added as she did take care of us.
I visit Miami once a year on business.
I always try to visit South Beach, especially if I'm showing someone
around. However after my last experience I probably will skip South
Beach on future visits. I am a salesperson. I know that the person that
you are dealing with may have connections that can make or break your
business. You have to treat everyone the same way. Clearly some
restaurants at South Beach think we are one time customers so they feel
there will be no harm in screwing the tourists.
I'm here to say they are wrong.
Don't go to this place. They don't
deserve your business. |

Review: My
wife and I were in South Beach on Thursday night May 25th and we found
this place. It looked like it had a good atmosphere and decided to sit
there for dinner.
We ordered some cocktails which were
fine. Then we ordered the arugula and shaved parmesan salad and asked
the waiter for his recommendation for my wife. The waiter recommended
the seafood pasta special (without mentioning the price). I, coming from
the service industry, always listen to the staff's recommendation so I
agreed and ordered the seafood pasta dish for my wife and linguini
bolognese for myself.
The arugula salad was bad. The arugula
was at least 7 days old with yellow leafs that in my restaurant I would
never serve. Not to mention the salad was $14.
Then, the main courses came. I have to
admit that my pasta dish was good, but the seafood pasta was not fresh.
The seafood was some of the worst seafood I had ever tasted and my wife
couldn't even eat it.
We asked for our bill and the bill came
in at $168 including tips. I asked to see the manager and told him about
the salad and that the seafood pasta at $55 should at least be super
fresh. He said "our food is always fresh" and then I mentioned that I
run a restaurant in Chicago and he said "let me do something about the
bill". He came back a few minutes later with the bill discounted by 25%.
Please, do not go to this restaurant.
Not only it's bad but you may be risking your health. Stay away!!! I
will definitely make a complaint to the health department on them. These
people should NOT be in business. |

Review: It
started perfect with complementary breadsticks. The waiter was a bit
un-polite and so were the rest of the staff. Dinner was delicious but
not much was served for such a high price. At the end of our night we
paid with cash and after a good 10 minute wait time to get receipt of my
payment; the receipt changed in price. I asked my waiter and he simply
said "Sir, the computer doesn't make errors". I spend a good 10 more
minutes for them to fix my bill and finally they did but without even
telling us they were sorry. Read carefully what every review here
states, they are not lying. |

Review: I
wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone! We placed our orders and
we got an appetizer and for our entree we got the tuna and their pasta
with lobster tail and shrimp in a spicy red sauce special. Our food
took a while to come out and we got our entrees before our appetizer, so
I asked the waitress and she said that she forgot to put the order in.
We asked her to still place the order because the tuna dish was way too
small and wouldn't fill up my husband. The lobster special was way too
over priced at $55. Will never go back!!! |

Review: The
prices were extraordinarily high (even for South Beach), the portions
were tiny, the waitstaff was amazingly rude, the manager did not care at
all when we spoke with him. Go to one of the restaurants on Lincoln
Road. You'll have a much better time! |

Review: My
lady friend graciously invited me to dinner on Friday night. A while
back she had the risotto at Café Milano and it was on her mind. She
raved how it was the best. I planned on ordering the Lasagna Alla
Bolognese. I had that there about 5 years ago with their special meat
sauce & bechamel-it was incredible. In fact, I had it there often but
then the last few times they drastically cut the portion of the order so
I stopped going there. So, we looked forward to a good dinner but when
we get there no risotto on the menu! In fact, no meat lasagna - just a
spinach based lasagna. Now I know their dinner menu on the net is much
bigger, with the risotto listed at $17. But the waitress, after
discussing with the manager, says they can prepare the basic risotto for
$27. That sounded outrageously high & we briefly considered leaving-&
should have.
However, we made the best of a bad
situation. My friend ordered the basic risotto and I ordered a simple
pizza. Can't go wrong with pizza, right? Wrong! The pizza resembled a
very small french bread but with a paper thin crust and a miniscule
amount of cheese & sauce. It was gone in a few bites! I know South
Beach is not known for great pizza and I am spoiled by NYC & Chicago
pizza, but some places in SoBE at least give you a nice 10" personal
pizza for $12.95 or less. Not a tiny super thin bread loaf with a light
topping - LOL! Okay, my friend asked me if I wanted to order another
but, honestly, it wasn't that good and it would have taken 3 orders to
fill me. But I was fine with the one order, dunking lots of house bread
in the olive oil, sharing a mixed greens salad, and tasting some of her
risotto.
The risotto you ask? My friend liked
it but $27 seems a bit outrageous for a simple rice dish, doesn't it? I
mean, it's not like they had anything expensive in there like lobster!
Despite all that, I had a good dinner
but only because the company I was with is very nice. Milano's is very
overpriced and not very accommodating. Plus their very own website is
misleading! |

Review: I
was in Miami and was attracted by the facade of the restaurant. It went
downhill from there. I was dining by myself and I was treated as if I
was a pariah by the wait staff. Food was just thrown down at me, I was
not offered water and even the opportunity to order a second drink or
dessert. The food was ok, but for the price, definitely not anything
special. The icing on the cake was the 17 % gratuity
automatically added to the bill. I find this extremely rude. I always
leave 20%+ but at this establishment I crossed out the 17% and left 5%
which was being kind. Would not return!! |

Review: We
stumbled upon this little gem one night during our stay in
South Beach. We were pleasantly surprised to
have found such wonderfully authentic Italian food (especially on Ocean
Drive!). The Swordfish Carpaccio
was some of the best I have ever had. The manager even stopped by to ask
how our dinner was. We stopped in the next night for drinks at the bar
and everything was just as warm and cozy as the night before. Even if
you skip everything else on Ocean Drive you have to stop in here. |
