Miami's haute home boys Karim Nasri
and Nicola Siervo develop and operate popular nighttime
destinations Wet, Wall, and Living Room and eateries
Sosta and Quattro Gastronomia Italiana on Lincoln Road
Mall catering to a clientele that appreciates quality,
high-profile hospitality. Adding a little down-home
comfort to that successful line-up is The Dutch at the W
Hotel South Beach, a roots-inspired American restaurant
offering all day dining under the watchful eye of Chef
Andrew Carmellini who first launched the brand in New
York's SoHo district last year.
Designed by Meyer Davis Studio,
the 170-seat indoor /outdoor restaurant space is airy
and bright with light oak flooring, brick walls and
a number of authentic retro Florida souvenirs that Chef
Carmellini collected as inspiration for his second Dutch
dining room. The local cultural references and marble
oyster bar at the center of the lofty space create a
timeless atmosphere that's distinctly South Beach. The
Chef spent many happy hours visiting Florida as a child
and has long considered Miami his second home. He notes,
"we originally created the Dutch in SoHo as a place
for New Yorkers to hang out and have a good time. The
aim here is to do the same for Miami Beach."

Culling his menu from a number of
local purveyors, Carmellini draws on a lifetime of Florida
road trips to offer oysters, stone crabs and a spicy
coconut lobster cocktail alongside snacks of fried oyster
sandwiches, hoisin-glazed ribs, and blue crab topped
pizzas. Entrees of fresh local yellowtail in a ginger
broth, spice-glazed pork chops and grilled prime meats
round out the menu. Pastry Chef Josh Gripper's buttermilk
panna cotta and dulce de leche doughnuts add a creamy
finish to the evening though guests have been known
to linger at patio tables overlooking the Grove while
nursing one of the many American whiskies stocked at
the bar. Experience the soulful, flavorful, rustic and
refined fare that is a hallmark of the Dutch at the
W Hotel South Beach.
