Modern American steakhouses should take a page from the Fontainebleau's
Gotham Steak playbook which dictates that the decor should feel in tune
with the town, the service should make guests believe they are special
and the food quality should merit the price points on the menu. Five
star dining on Miami Beach is much easier now that the resort hosts a
number of big name toques.
Chef Todd Miller's sleek two level dining room offers an intimate lower
lounge area with a great view of the open kitchen and a second tier
that's more of a social scene. Be sure to express your preference for
the quiet or more lively level when booking a table. Gotham Steak is the
first offshoot of the popular Manhattan restaurant and because it's
roots are more Maserati than chuckwagon, the seafood, side dishes and
desserts are equally as important as the beef.
If you can venture past the Brandt Farms rib eye or the Sher Ranch Wagyu,
you'll find flaky Florida grouper, lobsters napped in delicate sauces
and foams and parmesan french fries to add crunch to your side dish.
