“Where Italians Go for Italian” is the theme behind
Hosteria Romana, an authentic Roman-style restaurant on Espanola
Way. The all-Italian staff sings, dances, beats on the drum by the
door, and exudes enthusiastic
support for every dish on the menu. The extensive
menu is based in Roman home cooking, including handmade pastas, pizzas
from the wood-burning oven, grilled meats and fish, and of course
homemade desserts such as the irresistible tiramisu.
The indoor portion of the restaurant has wooden walls
lined with wine bottles, and wine bottles hanging from the ceiling. The
outdoor section is intimate and always packed, and Italian guitarists
mingle amongst the tables singing romantic songs to the many patrons.
The extremely friendly staff bustles about the crowd, happy to pull out
chairs and lay napkins in the laps of the women, of course while exuding
the Italian charm that makes all the women customers feel as if they are
the most beautiful in the restaurant. The authentic Italian charm is
part of what keeps Hosteria Romana a packed house, night after night.

Review: I
work on South Beach. I eat lunch there pretty often and have never been
disappointed. Just the thought of it gets my salivary glands going. The
ambiance is great, the waiters are cute, attentive, and jolly. For
dinner the atmosphere is even more lively and fun.
Once I went to the restaurant across
the street from this one just for a change and I felt really jealous of
the patrons at Hosteria Romana, not that there was anything particularly
wrong with where I was, but it just did not measure up.
Don't listen to the guy from England
who gave a bad review, The British are not famous for wonderful cuisine
for good reason...they have the blandest food in the world...I would
never trust a British pallet for anything other than tea. Go to Hosteria
Romana for the best Italian food in Miami. |

Review: If
you are from Europe and visit Italy regularly you will be stunned by
this restaurant claiming that "italians come here to eat". We ate here
twice because of the convenient location on South Beach (choosing to
ignore the 1970 casio-tape-singalong-live-rock blaring out).
The service is great and so is the
coffee. But each time the pasta was watery, bland and nothing like Italy
at all. We thought one mediocre dish was bad luck, but we were wrong.
Good for tourists wanting the main drag
and wolf-whistling waiters; no good for anyone who knows or cooks
beautiful Italian food. |

Review: Food
was poor for the price. The "specials" for the night were about double
the price of entrees in the menu, which is a big surprise when getting
your bill considering something common as fish. Waiter seemed
uninterested and was little help with the menu. Ambiance was good, but
so is every place on Ocean Drive. |

place is wonderful. It is truly Italian style in food, atmosphere, and
wait staff. Even after I was done with my meal, I saw a pizza being
served to another table and wanted to order one it looked so good. And
their Strawberry Martini's are the best I have ever tasted. So good I
had 3. Telling everyone to go here when they visit Miami. |

expensive. But, the food is fantastic. I was extremely impressed. It was
very busy when we went, but the service was still quick. The bread kept
coming, and our glasses were promptly filled. This place is awesome.
But, like I said....it is expensive, so be prepared. You definitely get
what you pay for here. Also, FYI...gratuity is 18% and it is
automatically added to your bill. |

food is absolutely amazing and my husband and I have yet to find a more
authentic Italian restaurant in SOBE! Even our
friends that moved here from Italy eat there. The only down side is that
the musicians that play in the evenings can be
a little distracting when trying to hold conversations as it is loud. |

Wife and I were in South Beach on business and just happen upon this
nice Italian Restaurant. Both of our grandmothers are from Italy (mine
Sicily, hers Palermo) and my family had an Italian restaurant called
Mama Nunnari's In Pensacola for years. What a treat to have that
authentic food once again. I remembered the sounds and smells from when
I was a child growing up and the staff was more than adequate.
