Philippe at the Gansevoort South Hotel
2305 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 674-0250

Chef Philippe Chow owner of Philippe, the upscale Chinese restaurant in New York City, opened his new restaurant at the Gansevoort South Hotel in June 2008 to buzz-worthy acclaim in a section of South Beach that's rapidly becoming the center of attention.

Philippe is located on the corner of Collins Avenue and 23rd Street, outside the hotel, and the restaurant has 400 seats—200 downstairs, 100 upstairs, 50 outdoors and 50 in a private wine cellar.

Chef Philippe Chow is the executive chef, and noodle master Chef Wai Ming Cheng runs the restaurant's one of a kind noodle bar. Chefs make different styles of hand-pulled noodles right at the counter, a theatrical element that breaks down barriers between the kitchen and the dining room.

Philippe also features an open-air kitchen viewable from the second floor of the restaurant where diners can look down from their tables and watch their meals being prepared in addition to interacting with the noodle chefs at the bar.

Philippe's menu offers such classics as Chicken Satays, Nine Seasons Spicy Prawns, Peking Duck and Crispy Beef.

Investors in the Miami Beach restaurant include sports stars Alonzo Mourning, Jerome Bettis, Chauncey Billups, Tyronn Lue, Stromile Swift, Al Harrington, and Antonio McDyess—all fans of the New York Philippe.

Review:  The service was horrible from the moment we sat down!!!  Not sure what was going on but when you have bad service the taste of the food takes a back seat.  Manager tried to make it right but the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths.  Probably would never eat here again!!  Should have gone to Mr. Chow right across the street...I know for next time.

Review:  Don't be fooled, I was! This is NOT the famous Mr Chow you have heard so much about. Everything we ordered was inedibly salty, and still managed to be bland. It was also way, way overpriced for the bad quality food.

Review:  I was very pleased to see that one of my favorite New York City restaurants was now in Miami. The food and service was just as fabulous as the NY location. I couldn't resist but to order their famous Chicken Satay and Green Prawns! Of course, my friends and I also enjoyed (many) of the specialty cocktails. Can't wait to go back next time I vacation in Miami!

Review:  A huge rip off.  $600 for dinner for 4 with only cocktails, and this for just average Chinese food.
