New
York transplants recognize the Smith & Wollensky name from the landmark factory
restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Now, in a pseudo old house in South Point Park stands
another, the second Smith & Wollensky. Die hard carnivores from all corners of the
globe congregate at S&W, the beachs most excessive steakhouse.
Swarming with
high fallutin tourists and corporate groups, its a great place to meet
out-of-towners with prestigious jobs. Wine connoisseurs relish in the unbeatable wine
list, surpassing that of the previous citys champion (The Forge).
Americas
reclaimed meal of choice, steak, is a time honored standard here. Tenderloins rule the
roost, but S&Ws chef does a bang-up sizzling pork loin, the
restaurants massive claim to fame that could feed a small family. A mere $75 buys
the voluminous seafood platter. Views of the Port of Miami and Fisher Island can be had
from the patio, the outdoor bar, and just about every table in the house.
