Social Miami   (closed)
at The Sagamore Hotel
1671 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139

If you are one of those people who wonder what all the fuss is about when it comes to modern art and high-concept dining, perhaps the scene at Social is not for you. On the other hand, the innovative tapas-style menu and the huge art collection are a lot more interesting than the stuffed moose head you're likely to encounter at your local steak house. Right this minute on South Beach, weekend hipsters are flocking to the Sagamore Hotel to see-and-be-seen at this red hot night spot. Your best option is to call and reserve a table around 9ish and show up looking very smart. The crowd dresses to impress and wanders throughout the chic art filled space nibbling from the "Global Tasting Menu" including Kobe Beef Sliders and Korean Chicken Lollypops. While all this might seem a bit too frou-frou for the meat and potatoes crowd, most of the girls in this place haven't eaten anything as carbohydrate-rich as a spud in quite some time!

Wander through the lounge spaces, nip out to the pool, marvel at the billiard area and return for a few small plates designed by local Top Chef Michele Bernstein. Cocktails are pricey but creative. The passionfruit cocktail with chili-infused vodka is far more potent than a Bud Draft and about 5 times the price.  Most nightclubs on South Beach are not very interesting before midnight. If you find yourself waiting for the party to get going, chances are the people you're waiting to meet are warming up at Social - where tapas are an art form.

Review:  Social is a really fun place.  If you are going for dinner, go with a big crowd.  It's not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.  Order a bunch of different things from the menu and share them.  Plan to stick around for some drinks.  Great art work!
