SushiSamba
Dromo is inspired by the SAMBÓDROMO in Rio de Janiero, the city where
Brazil’s annual Carnaval convenes.
At the center of SushiSamba Dromo is the sushi bar, where diners
can order traditional sushi and sushi rolls, as well as Samba Rolls, signature Sashimi Seviche
and Tiradito (a modern Peruvian-inspired
sashimi dish similar to seviche, but without vegetables). Try the Yellowtail Sashimi Seviche with ginger, garlic and soy, or a tiradito
such as Tuna with lemon and
fuji apple vinaigrette. Also from
the sushi bar adventurous diners can try the Japanese delicacy, Sawagani,
a small, bite-sized river crab flown in live from Japan, flash fried, shell and
all. Oysters, clams and other raw bar specialties will also be available.
Complementing the sushi bar is the samba kitchen, which offers a hybrid of Brazilian, Peruvian and Japanese dishes.
Appetizers such as
Beef Tenderloin Tataki Salad, with daikon, carrot, habanero-tobiko
and ponzu, as well as Tuna Cana de Açúcar,
seared yellowfin marinated in sugarcane juice and soy sauce with tatsoi, palmito
and fresh orange, range from $7 - $14. Entrees
ranging from $17 - $39 include Crispy Whole Red Snapper served with coconut rice, spicy red curry
sauce and wakame and Moqueca Mista, a
stew of bacalhau, shrimp, octopus and pitu in coconut milk and dendê oil,
served with chimichurri rice.
A natural fit for the area’s international diners and
night-life aficionados,
SushiSamba Dromo brings
innovative food and a lively ambiance to Miami Beach.

Review: Music
is always invigorating, the food is creative and fun. Great people
watching both in and outside the restaurant. It is quite expensive, and
since the portions are a bit spartan, I suggest you don\'t go there with
a full appetite unless your wallet is bottomless. Have a drink, a couple
of appetizers, move on. |

Review: Sushi
Samba's unique blend of Latin infused sushi
and incredible lounge atmosphere is not to be missed. I spent the most
wonderful three hours there chilling to the music - don't miss the
strawberry martini. |

Review: The
hostess was very impolite and on top of typing the reservation with two
fingers, she didn't seem able to coordinate the guest list. I went there
with 4 friends and they don't have large tables to accommodate a larger
party. If your party is larger than two, don't even think about it. We
waited for almost 1 hour and decided to leave. |

Review: The
Lincoln Road area is full of nice sidewalk cafes, but SushiSamba is one
of the best locations. It's on the corner
across the street from the Lincoln Theater. Their sushi is very good and
the restaurant's interior design is also cool.
As with some (most?) Miami Beach restaurants, there always seems to be
some drama with the staff, but I guess you have to learn to overlook the
minor stuff or you'll ruin your vacation obsessing over a few bozos. Oh
well, at least it isn't as bad as Paris. |

Review: My
friends and I had a great time chilling at the bar. (Be sure to ask for
the drink menu, there are some great original
cocktails.) After downing more than a few drinks we ordered sushi rolls
and everything was really fresh and tasty. Service was so-so (we weren't
expecting much so we weren't too disappointed). The atmosphere was great
and the place attracts some cool people. Ended
up making some new friends at the bar and heading
out on the town with them for more drinks.
Turned out to be a great place to start the night - you should
definitely check it out. |
