When a celebrity chef like Geoffrey Zakarian - who is a
frequent guest judge on the FoodTV Network's nighttime
cooking challenge "Chopped" - announces that he is
taking his talents to South Beach, you can bet that
crowds of foodies will follow! Such was the hope of the
team behind the newly renovated Dream Hotel who funded a
top-to-bottom renovation of the landmark Art Deco
property where the swank Tudor House Restaurant serves
happy guests from morning until midnight.
Drop by the breezy alfresco dining
terrace for a perfectly muddled cocktail, a delightfully
relaxed rosé brunch or a romantic dinner for two and
discover what all the fuss is about. Executive Chef
Jamie DeRosa presides over daily operations, working in
tandem with newly-minted "Iron Chef" Zakarian to craft
American-style comfort food served in a warm, inviting
environment. The restaurant opens daily at 7am and winds
through a busy day until the last satisfied guest ticks
away on stiletto heels in search of the best of South
Beach nightlife.
With Mediterranean roots and
classical French training, Zakarian developed the menus
at Tudor House with an eye toward creating a casual
neighborhood cafe for locals and an easy destination for
tourists as well. The approachable fare includes
traditional breakfasts spiked with a few surprises like
huevos rancheros with chorizo and airy hot cakes bathed
in tart lemon curd. Topping the list of lunch favorites
is Chef DeRosa's buttermilk fried chicken, hearty 10
vegetable soup and a Cuban-style pressed sandwich filled
with garlicky pork belly and housemade pickles. Dinner
entrees range from burgers and spaghetti with meatballs
to the more esoteric monkfish stew and braised lamb
belly with baby carrots and English peas. Soulful and
satisfying, the best dishes at Tudor House make guests
feel right at home.
