The Shops at Fifth & Alton are now open and they are a welcomed addition to the Alton Road/West Avenue area which contains a large population of condo and apartment dwellers who thus far had to drive as far away as Aventura Mall to fill their shopping needs.

The shopping mall includes such retailers such as Best Buy, Ross Dress for Less, T.J. Maxx, Staples, Petco*, Vitamin Shoppe and Publix.

The $80 million dollar project contains 180,000 square feet of retail, spread over three levels. There are also six levels of parking and 1,080 spaces. The Publix store will account for 44,000-square-feet of Fifth & Alton.

*Petco will open in February.
